Our troop heads to Tomahawk Scout Camp every summer for the week. This camp is where many scouts achieve most of their advancement for the year from merit badges and rank advancements. It's a time for scouts to get to know each other better, spend lots of time outside and have fun. Our troop camps at the Menomonee site at Sioux campsite.

Advancement Opportunities
Each day has two activity sessions in the morning, with program blocks of Monday/Wednesday/Friday (M/W/F) and Tuesday/Thursday (T/Th). These are when Scouts work on merit badges, other advancement, or participate in some older Scout adventures.
First-year Scouts should choose merit badges for both the M/W/F and T/Th blocks in morning session 2.
All merit badge books should be checked out from the Scout Room at Elim, or purchased at the Scout Shop. Read them before camp, and be sure to complete all prerequisites BEFORE CAMP.
Each afternoon our troop will do activities together. We will plan on making activities only found at Tomahawk a priority, such as visiting the Logging Camp and the bison fields. When you sign up on our troop’s Google Form, indicate which activities you’d like to do as a troop. The troop will make selections based on Scout preferences.

If you want your Scout to send you letters, send paper and pen with self addressed stamped envelopes.
Tomahawk is offering Wilderness First Aid (WFA). This covers medical situations when advanced care is an hour or more away. It is offered during our week at Tomahawk this year and is a two-day, all-day course on Monday and Tuesday. Indicate your interest on the sign-up form. The cost is $90.
Paddlecraft Safety trains adults in basic paddling skills. Adults will attend and assist with both Canoeing and Kayaking merit badges. There will be an afternoon or evening for extra instruction and testing (time and day to be determined). Indicate your interest on the sign-up form. There is no cost.
The troop has been maintaining cabin tents for use only at summer camp that each accommodate up to four Scouts. This allows us to leave the mosquito netting and frames at home! The large tents will give us plenty of storage and room to gather during downtime and inclement weather.
Scouts will use the large cabin tents as usual, with two or three Scouts per tent.
Adults may always bring their own tents or use a troop tent.
The troop also rents a cot for each Scout to sleep on at Tomahawk.
This money should be in an envelope with your Scout’s name and total amount turned into the adult “banker”.
Cash will be accepted at the Trading Post, but a credit card or prepaid Visa gift card is recommended.
This will cover meals up and back, trading post snack, merit badge supplies, extra activity fees and ammunition tickets.
Items on the personal camping gear list
If your Scout does not plan on sleeping in the cabin tents, bring a sleeping pad or cot that will fit in a smaller tent (a low-profile cot would likely fit).
Each Scout should bring a 14-gallon Rubbermaid (or equivalent) tub to store personal gear in. These tubs are just the right size to slide under the cots.
Scouts may bring collapsible chairs to sit on.
Sunscreen should be spray-on and SPF 25+.
Mosquito repellent must be a lotion or pump spray only, NOT a can.
Fishing poles should not have hooks on them and should be broken down or in a case.
All prescription drugs to be taken at camp should be turned into our medical officer. Medication should be in original containers and must include written directions.
If you have any questions, talk to camp coordinator Jason Howard or Scoutmaster Ben Magnuson.
