Eagle Scout Award Celebrates 100 Years
The centennial of the Eagle Scout award was marked Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012. On that day in 1912 Arthur Eldred became the first Eagle in the newly founded Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Troop 1 in Rockville Centre, Long Island, N.Y.
